René Hubert
René Hubert’s career has focused on technology innovation and biologic drug development in biotech companies within the greater Los Angeles area. He earned his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Southern California and completed a postdoc from Cedars Sinai Medical Center. During his time at Agensys he discovered targets for antibody therapeutics and antibody drug conjugates while later shifting to hybridoma generation and mammalian recombinant protein production. While at Xencor, he developed expression systems for Research and for Process Development. Currently at Amgen for 7.5 years, René led the Expression and Cell Engineering group in Protein Engineering which produces and optimizes large molecule therapeutics. His interests are in engineering mammalian expression hosts for improved productivity and quality and in miniaturizing and automating protein expression systems.
